Merry Christmas

`Out of love for us, he took upon himself our human condition, our fragility, our vulnerability and he opened up for us the path that leads to the fullness of life to a share in the life of God himself.
As we ponder this great mystery in our hearts this Christmas, let us give thanks to God for his goodness to us and let us joyfully proclaim to those around us the good news that God offers us freedom from whatever weighs us down: he gives us hope, he brings us life.`
Pope Benedict XVI on Thought for the Day 24.12.10

Since My car was frost bound on Christmas Eve, and I was unable to attend the Forest Hall Midnight Mass, I watched the Midnight Mass from Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral.

Among comments on other blogs, was the "allegation" that the scripture readings were from the King James Bible. Certainly they were different to the Jerusalem Bible translations. Can anyone confirm or deny the truth of the assertion?

I was not too impressed with the Widor Mass, but that is me being too picky! The choir put their own interpretation on Credo 3 at the "Incarnatus Est...", which interrupted the plainchant flow.

Tell me I am being far too critical.

No 1569 is not being too picky. I found a clip of the Sanctus and Benedictus from midnight Mass and it was (I am sorry to say) hideous - singing out of time with the organ for a start, never mind the fact that the melody and harmonies are just grotesque.
