It seemed too good to be true. Here is Damian Thompson`s report on the decision not to go ahead with a personal parish for the EF in Liverpool. Maybe the church will be sold to become a fitness centre or something.

What can you expect when the final say in a diocese is left to the Council of Priests?
Well, I am actually quite delighted that, at least in Liverpool, the EF of Mass is not to be relegated to what would certainly have become a ghetto! The idea of a 'Personal Parish' for the EF is surely somewhat at variance with Card. Hoyos recent call for it be be celebrated in every parish?
Canon 515.2 speaks about the supression or alteration of parishes and says the bishop must listen to the council of priests. Having said that he does not need to follow their advice.
Sceptical, glad you are back again! I think there is value in a few personal parishes which are given over to the 1962 books to supplement what goes on in the parish. However I do admit that many Catholics might never come across the EF if it was in a `ghetto church`. I think Cardinal Castrillon Hoyos`s call is importantand I personllay think that is more important than having a world-wide personal prelature for the EF. Bishop Fellay in his recent interview said he heard that some priests of Ecclesia Dei insitutes may become dioceasn bishops. That would seem a good way ahead to me so that the whole Church can benefit from the MP.

Liverpool doesn't need advice on how to desecrate churches:
