Brinkburn 2009
A much larger congregation than I`d feared turned up at Brinkburn on Saturday for the annual High Mass. As mentioned there was an all FSSP team. Fr Emerson was celebrant and Rev Simon Harkin was deacon and Rev Peter Bauknecht was subdeacon. Many thanks to them and to the Rudgate singers, Schola Borealis, organist Peter Locke and the altar servers for making it possible as well as English Heritage. Epistle sung versus populum?
It is an option in the 1962 missal. It`s not one I`ve ever used myself but you can find the reference in Fortescue.
Golly! An acquaintance in London was telling me he thought 1962 is vastly inferior to both the old and new rites, I think I can his point.

I think I could guess who taht acquaintance is with one guess. Does he write under the name of `Rubricarius` or `Old Believer`?
Reminds me of the old 'and how many Angels can dance on the head of a pin?' and just as much use. The ordinary man (person) in the pew is simply put off by such debates over details.

BJR, there is only one person I know who hates the 1962 missal with such a passion.
Canny - you may be put off by such details but there is a symbolic reason why the epistle is read facing east and the gospel is read facing north.

There was one priest and the other two were Rev's. Are they Rev's because they are not yet ordained?
The two Rev`s are deacons who will be ordained priests next year. Glad you liked the photos.
