New Bishop Tomorrow

Well tomorrow`s the big day as Canon Cunningham is consecrated as the 13th bishop of Hexham and Newcastle. Here`s an interview he did this week with the Newcastle Journal.

I`m sure he`ll be in the prayers of many. There`s also an interview with the bishop-elect by one of the episcopal vicars on the diocesan website. The transcript can be read here.

So the bishophas learned the usefulness of delegation from the Bishop Dunn. Is that good or bad, that he will be getting other people to do things and even make decisions for him?Depends on who and what it is, I suppose, but it might not be all bad.

Strange that his biggest worry seems to be the credit crunch! Shouldn't he be worried about the spiritual welfare of his neices and nephews in this mad secular world?

Pat, I imagine Canon Cunningham wanted to show he was aware of the problems ordinary people face. I`m sure he is interested in their spritual welfare too.

Still it was an opportunity lost to publicly draw attention to ANY problem which doesn't get a mention! Everyone is aware of the credit crunch and the difficulties it brings. Are we not looking for something counter cultural?
