We can only hope that the proposals delivered by H.E. Cardinal Canizares will be implemented, specifically the recovery of Latin (for the Gloria, Credo, Sanctus, Agnus, Pater Noster I would hope) as well as reception on the tongue being given its correct prominence. I would however, liked to have seen the Canon being proposed for silent recitation to heighten the sense of the sacred since, as scripture says (Habakkuk): “Let all the earth keep silence; God is in His temple”), with the return of genuflections before the elevations and Per Ipsum. When I first came to Austria I noticed many differences between the German and English texts and much preferred the German version. The new texts are now almost identical to the German we have been using all along. <br />I wonder how the new translation will go down in some English parishes....Emnoreply@blogger.com
